New Delhi: Who will benefit the most from the Samajwadi Party (SP)-Congress alliance in Uttar Pradesh? It is being discussed everywhere. Under the Indian alliance, the SP has agreed to give 17 seats to the Congress in UP while the Congress will give the Khajraho Lok Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh to the SP. Let’s understand in 10 points who among SP and Congress will benefit the most from this alliance and who might suffer.

1-Congress got more seats than its potential.

Apart from Amethi and Rae Bareli, nowhere in UP does the Congress seem to be competing with the BJP. At present only Rae Bareli seat is held by Congress. Congress’s support in the state is steadily declining. Congress won only two seats in the UP assembly elections. That too the account of Rae Bareilly and Amethi was not opened at all. If assessed accordingly, the political status of the Congress was no more than the Lok Sabha seats. In such a situation, SP hurt itself by giving 17 seats to Congress. Political experts say that SP has been helping Amethi and Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seats before. However, SP does not field a candidate against the Gandhi family. In such a situation, Congress is at an advantage by getting an additional 15 seats. Some even say that the SP has already lost at least 15 seats after giving 17 seats to the Congress.

2- Seats where SP was strong went to Congress.

Congress elections in UP from Rae Bareli, Amethi, Kanpur Nagar, Fatehpur Sikri, Bansgaon, Saharanpur, Prayagraj, Maharajganj, Varanasi, Amroha, Jhansi, Balanshahr, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Sitapur, Barabanki, Deoria Lok Sabha seats. will fight Apart from Amethi and Rae Bareli, SP is stronger than Congress in other seats. In the 2022 assembly elections, SP had won four seats in Rae Bareli and three seats in Amethi. If SP had fielded its candidates in Prayagraj, Saharpur, Bansgaon, Amroha, Varanasi, Barabanki and Maharajganj, BJP candidates would have given a stronger fight to Congress. SP may also win some of these seats. In such a situation, Congress also took away the seat from SP where it is relatively weak. According to reports, Congress wanted at least 21 seats in UP but was not ready to give more than 10 to SP. Getting 17 seats means the Congress has got what it wanted.

3-Congress organization is very weak.

Congress organization is also quite weak in most assembly constituencies of UP. In such a situation, there is little hope that SP will get the benefit of the Congress organization in the remaining 63 seats. Because when the organization itself is not strong, it is worth wondering how much the Congress will be able to help the SP. Even before this, SP has not got the benefit of alliance with Congress. The SP also knows that it does not have much hope from the Congress.

4- There is a dilemma whether Congress vote bank will transfer to SP?

Congress’ old vote bank is considered to be Brahmin-Muslim and general category voters. Muslim voters are already SP’s vote bank. There is little hope that Brahmins and other castes, who are considered Congress voters, will vote for SP candidates. Brahmins and general category voters can vote for BJP wherever there is an SP candidate. At the same time, there is a dilemma whether Yadav and other backward castes, who are considered SP voters, will vote for the Congress. Because many BJP leaders are Yadavs and in UP BJP is trying all possible to break SP’s vote bank. In such a case, only time will tell how successful the SP-Congress alliance will be.

5- Congress benefits more from alliance.

Muslim voters in UP are already voting for SP and BSP. After the weakening of the BSP, the Muslim voters have shifted towards the SP. If SP had contested elections without Congress, it would have got votes from Muslims. This means that Congress will now try to get Muslim votes along with SP voters. If SP voters like Yadav and other castes vote for Congress, it will be in a good position to fight BJP in many seats. An alliance with the SP could give the Congress the same advantage that the BSP got in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. But SP did not get the votes of BSP.

6-SP seats may be reduced.

Along with Akhilesh Yadav, Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar and other small party leaders are also present. In such a situation, it is believed that SP may give some seats to smaller parties as well. Recently, SP’s closeness with Raja Bhaiya’s party has also increased. SP may have to give up some seats including Pratapgarh for Raja Bhaiya. At the same time Apna Dil Kamerawadi will also want to take some seats from SP. However, Pallavi Patel is angry with the SP.

7- Managing party leaders is a big challenge.

The Samajwadi Party has also announced the names of candidates for some of the 17 seats given to the Congress. There, potential candidates of SP were also active in the area on some seats. In such a situation, some leaders may get angry and go to another party. It will be a big challenge for Akhilesh to save the party from disintegration.

8- SP’s hopes in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh have been dashed.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also wanted some seats from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh from the Congress in the division of seats. Apart from Khajuraho, Congress has not given seats to SP anywhere else. SP’s political strength in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh is similar to that of Congress in UP.

9- After the elections SP has been cheated by other parties.

Time will tell whether the Congress-SP alliance will hold even after the Lok Sabha elections, but so far the votes have not lasted long with whoever the SP has allied with. Be it the party of Om Prakash Rajbhar or the party of BSP and Jayant Chaudhary. All left SP after taking electoral advantage.

10- BJP will get an opportunity to target SP.

Time will tell how much Akhilesh Yadav will benefit from campaigning with Congress leaders in the polls, but the BJP will not fail to target the SP-Congress in its old fashion. BJP has always raised the issue of corruption of Congress among the people.
