Zomato has now launched a new service for pure vegetarians. If you are a pure vegetarian and avoid eating at a place that also serves non-vegetarian food, then Zomato has launched this service for people like you. Zomato co-founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal has launched ‘Pure Veg Fleet’ and ‘Pure Veg Mode’ on its platform. This pure veg mode will include restaurants for users that only serve vegetarian food. However, restaurants serving non-veg food will be excluded from this mode.

Zomato CEO gave the information on social media.

Talking about the service on social media platform X, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal said – This Pure Wage Mode and Pure Wage Flat is not brought to serve any particular religion or political party. It will provide special service to those who want to order food from pure veg restaurants. Goyal further wrote – “India has the highest number of vegetarians in the world and the most important feedback we get is that people are very particular about how their food is cooked and How it is used.”

Criticism of social media

A certain section of people criticized the Zomato CEO on social media regarding the service. A user commented and wrote – Zomato’s Pure Veg may lead to discrimination. “There have been many cases where people have rejected food delivery because the delivery agent was a Muslim. The argument they used was, ‘We didn’t want our food to be unsanitary.’ I wouldn’t be surprised if Zomato’s move to ‘pure vegetarian’ should lead to further discrimination.’ Another wrote – ‘Remove the app. I will never use Zomato again. This is racist and criminal. Hope someone files a case against them.’ Many such users are calling this move by Zomato as discriminating, while some users are calling it a great move.
