Delhi Capitals won the match against Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs at the Visakhapatnam Ground and opened their points account this season after losing two matches in a row. The match also saw the return of Prithvi Shaw, who was out of the first 2 matches, to the playing XI of Delhi Capitals. Shaw took full advantage of the opportunity and got the team off to a flying start with a 27-ball 43 innings. Shaw hit 2 sixes and 4 fours during his innings. Regarding his innings, Shaw said in his statement after the match that returning to the field after an injury is not easy, but this match has definitely given me a lot of confidence.

I was playing smart.

“I don’t really know about this year but obviously during IPL they expect me to hit every ball,” Prithvi Shaw said in his statement on the official website of IPL. I don’t see it as pressure or anything. I take it as a challenge and try to do my best. It was great to play in the limited overs format for such a long time. You must be hungry for runs after coming back from injury. You want to hit the ball in the middle and IPL is a game where you look to hit the ball. You know it’s your day. Today I was playing sensibly as our score reached 24 runs in 4 overs.

I’m not a kid anymore.

Prithvi Shaw has been a part of Delhi Capitals in the IPL for the past 7 seasons which he also said, “This is my 7th year with the franchise and they have always taken good care of me.” He has taken care of me like a child. I am no longer a child, now I am considered a senior player. But this year also they knew about my injury and during that time I was constantly thinking about returning to the field. I really got a lot of support from Delhi Capitals management, support staff, Ricky Ponting, Sourav Ganguly. When I didn’t get a chance to play in the first two matches of the season, he spoke to me and told me that he was trying some things and I would get a chance soon. I just knew that every time I played, I would try to give my best.
