On the plea of ​​Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a hearing will be held in the Delhi High Court today on April 3. Kejriwal has filed a petition against his arrest. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed an affidavit in the High Court on the evening of April 2 on Kejriwal’s plea. The ED said that Arvind Kejriwal is the mastermind of the liquor scam. The ED said in its affidavit that Delhi’s entire liquor policy was framed by Kejriwal.

What did the ED say to the court?

The ED has named the Aam Aadmi Party as the biggest beneficiary in the liquor scam operations. The ED told the court that the Aam Aadmi Party has benefited the most from the proceeds of the Delhi liquor scam. The ED said that AAP has committed the crime of money laundering through Arvind Kejriwal. The party spent around Rs 45 crore in the Goa assembly elections 2022 amid the liquor scam. The money was sent to Goa through Hawala. These offenses come under Section 70 of PMLA 2002.

“Many opportunities were provided for cooperation in the investigation.”

ED in his affidavit mentioned the statement of witness ND Gupta. ED said that Kejriwal was directly involved in policy making. The investigating agency said it had issued nine summons to Kejriwal and given him several opportunities to cooperate in the investigation of the case. However, Kejriwal deliberately disobeyed the agency’s order. Each time he made some excuse and did not join the investigation.

Kejriwal had filed a petition in the High Court on March 23.

Let me tell you that Arvind Kejriwal, lodged in Tihar Jail, filed a petition against his arrest in the High Court on March 23. The High Court had issued a notice to the ED on March 27 and sought its reply by April 2. The matter will be heard today on April 3. Apart from his arrest, Kejriwal has also challenged the Rouse Avenue court’s remand order. Actually he was arrested on March 21. The next day, the Rouse Avenue court sent him on ED remand till March 28, which was later extended to April 1. On April 1, the court sent him to Tihar judicial custody till April 15.
