Bint Singh’s son Sarabjit Singh will contest as an independent candidate.

The son of one of the assassins of former prime minister late Indira Gandhi said on Thursday that he will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Faridkot seat in Punjab. Sarabjit Singh (45) said that many people of Faridkot asked him to contest the election, so he will contest the election as an independent. Let us tell you that Sarbjit Singh is the son of Bint Singh, one of the two assassins of Indira Gandhi. The then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was shot dead at her residence on 31 October 1984 by her bodyguards Bayant Singh and Sawant Singh.

Continuous defeat in elections after 2004

It is to be mentioned that earlier also Sarabjit Singh had contested the 2004 Lok Sabha election from Bathinda seat and failed. Sarabjit got 1.13 lakh votes in this election. After that, he also contested the Punjab Assembly election from Bhadur seat of Barnala in 2007 but he had to face defeat. He then received 15,702 votes. Sarabjit tried his luck again from Fatehgarh Sahib seat in 2014 Lok Sabha elections but he lost again. However, his mother Bimal Kaur was elected MP from Ropar seat in 1989.

Sarabjit is a 12th class dropout.

In the 2014 election affidavit, Sarabjit Singh declared his total assets at Rs 3.5 crore. According to the report, in 2019 also he had contested the election with Bahujan Samaj Party but still he failed. Let us tell you that Sarabjit is a class 12 dropout and his father was among the two assassins who assassinated the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at her residence on October 31, 1984. The second assassin of Indira Gandhi was Satwant Singh.

Aam Aadmi Party has fielded actor Karamjit Anmol from Faridkot Lok Sabha seat while Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded singer Hans Raj Hans. Presently Congress Member of Parliament Muhammad Sadiq is MP from Faridkot seat. Punjab’s 13 Lok Sabha seats will go to polls on June 1.
