At the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the fans got to see Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s old style with the bat once again. Dhoni, the former captain of the Chennai Super Kings team, faced only 4 balls but out of them he delivered the first 3 balls to the fans sitting in the stands. Dhoni scored 20 runs in this innings with a strike rate of 500. Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai by 20 runs at their home ground to register their fourth win of the season. Due to his innings, Dhoni managed to create a history in the IPL that no Indian player has been able to create till date.

In this match, when Mahendra Singh Dhoni came in to bat, Chennai Super Kings had scored 186 runs till the second ball of the 20th over. Dhoni hit the first ball of his innings for a six towards long-off, then he hit the second ball full force towards long-on and hit the ball again for a six, while Dhoni swung the third ball wide. Moving the bat towards long-on, he sent it back to the fans. However, Dhoni managed to score only 2 runs off the last ball. Thus, Dhoni has now become the first Indian player in the history of IPL to hit three consecutive sixes in the first three balls of his innings. Only 2 players have managed to do this in IPL before and both are from West Indies.
