New Delhi: Congress leader Randeep Surjewala’s comments on Hema Malini, the BJP candidate from Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura Lok Sabha seat, have cost him dearly. Taking strict action on this, the Election Commission has banned Congress leader Randeep Surjewala from campaigning for 48 hours.

What’s the whole deal?

In fact, when Randeep Surjewala was addressing a public meeting in Kaithal, Haryana, he made a derogatory comment on BJP leader and MP from Mathura, Hema Malini. However, later Surjewala also gave his explanation in this matter and said that his intention was not to insult Hema Malini.

Surjewala also said that his statement has been distorted. The Election Commission had issued a show-cause notice to Surjewala on April 9 in this case. Surjewala had until April 11 to respond.

On this notice, Surjewala said that the video was tampered with and posted on social media. My intention was not to insult any actress.

What did Hema Malini say about Surjewala’s statement?

Hema Malini had said on Surjewala’s statement, ‘People are with me. Whatever comment they (Serjewala) are making, let them do it. What happens when they comment? It doesn’t matter to me. I’m just doing my job.
