A police officer said the accused, Santosh Dhondaram Takwale, called the police on Sunday and reported the incident, after which he was arrested.

According to the official, Takwale allegedly threw her son Soham and daughters Shivani (eight years) and Deepali (seven years) into a well in Domgaon village of Ambad tehsil on Saturday. Inspector Raghunath Nachan of Ambed police station said that the dead children belonged to Takwale’s first wife, who had died and the accused had remarried.

He said that a case has been registered and investigations are on to find out the motive behind the crime. According to sources, the accused, a resident of Kuchner village in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, worked in a hotel and had reached Dumigaon with children on weekends. He said that the accused himself called the police and reported the murder and later hung up.
