Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar made a statement.

Madan Dilawar, Rajasthan’s education minister, made a provocative remark, alleging that Mughal emperor Akbar was not great but “cruel and rapist”. Asked about the changes in the school curriculum, Dilawar told reporters in Balotra on Sunday that Akbar used to bring girls from the bazaars and rape them. On making Surya Namaskar compulsory in schools in Rajasthan, he said it was being implemented gradually.

Controversy over Surya Namaskar in Rajasthan

“It has begun,” he said. In a few days, ‘Surya Namaskar’ will become regular in all schools.” When asked about the transfer of teachers, Dilawar said that exams are going on at the moment and it would not be appropriate to transfer teachers. “We will start the transfer process after the exams are over,” he said. Let me tell you that on February 15, an order was issued to perform Surya Namaskar in all government schools of Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Executive of Jamiat Ulema Hind also held a meeting on this matter.

Jamiat held a meeting.

A resolution regarding Surya Namaskar was passed by the congregation. The resolution condemned the order of collective Surya Namaskar to students, parents and others in all schools on the occasion of Surya Saptami. It was called open interference in religious matters. The proposal also stated that this is a violation of the Constitution. In this regard, Jamiat said that in majority Hindu society, Sun is worshiped as God. In this practice spoken verses and activities like Pranamasana, Ashtanga Namaskar etc. are a form of worship. Worship of none other than Allah is acceptable in Islam.
