The opposition has united against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Leaders of the India Alliance met three commissioners of the Election Commission in Delhi on Friday. Angry with Kejriwal’s arrest, opposition leaders demanded the commission’s intervention. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that you know how illegal action was taken last night. This issue is directly related to the basic structure of the constitution. When government institutions are misused, the constitution and democracy are under attack.
The India Alliance delegation includes KC Venugopal, Congress’ Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Derek O’Brien, TMC’s Mohammad Nadeemul Haque, CPI-M’s Sitaram Yechury, Aam Aadmi Party’s Sandeep Pathak and Pankaj Gupta, NCP’s Sharad Pawar. The faction includes Jitendra Ohad and others. Samajwadi Party MP Javed Ali was involved.
